RESERVE YOUR PLATE To reserve your new MET Land and Water plate make checks payable to Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles for $40. Complete this form and send along with your check to: Massachusetts Environmental Trust Land & Water Plate, 100 Cambridge Street, 9th Floor, Boston, MA 02114 Note: M.E.T. will collect but not cash checks for reservations until 3,000 applications are collected. This may take up to one year, in which time your check will be outstanding from your account. Once your check is forwarded to the Registry of Motor Vehicles, it is non-refundable. When the 3,000 reservations are made we will contact you to let you know that the plate is proceeding. The RMV will notify you when the plates are available for pick up In addition to the $40 Specialty Plate application fee, there will be a $20 RMV swap plate fee to transfer your current registration to a new Land & Water Plate. $12 of the $40 specialty plate fee goes to the RMV for plate production; the remaining $28 goes to protect land and is tax-deductible. Registration renewals cost $81 every two years.
